I am very happy to announce that "Nona Beamer: A Legacy of Aloha" will be shown on the afternoon of Saturday, April 14, after the Merrie Monarch Parade, at the historic Palace Theater in Hilo, Hawai`i. I will be there for a Q&A session afterwards. And I hope to see many of the people who appear in the film there. I will update you as I learn more.

The Trailer

Nona Beamer: A Legacy of Aloha
The Trailer

This is not a conventional trailer, but then this is not a conventional film. The trailer is a few bites from one or two small dishes in a banquet of stories, songs, and dances, by and about Aunty Nona Beamer and those who were influenced by her. Enjoy the trailer, but there is so much more to the film!
Here are the people who are interviewed in "Nona Beamer: A Legacy of Aloha." In alphabetical order: Gordean Leilehua Lee Bailey, Louise Leimamo Beamer-Gamiao, Kathy Kapua ‘Anela Beamer-Templeton, Kaliko Beamer-Trapp, Mauli Ola Cook, Puna Kalama Dawson, David Kawika Eyre, Michele Kealaokapualekomaika‘i Gamble, Nathan Liberato Kahikolu Kahapea Kalama, Penny Keli‘i-Vredenburg, Mary Bea Larson, Angeline Hopkins Locey, Caren Loebel-Fried, Kaui Kapuni Manera, Kuulei L. Perez, Laurie Rohrer, Lynn Samuels, Jerry Santos, Anakala Pilipo Solotorio, Kimberlee Kalei Tong, Kaleo Trinidad, Teri Waros.
I can't wait for you to meet them!

It's a Wrap!

"Nona Beamer: A Legacy of Aloha," is finally completed! MY next task, of course, is to create a new trailer. This is not as easy as it might seem. This is a complex film, historical, biographical, full of a multitude of stories, hulas, and music. In two minutes I can only show a few of these film elements, and it will lead the viewer to believe that this represents the totality of the film, when there is so much more than that! So, give me some time to work out this problem, and then I will post the new trailer. Mahalo!
